Features

Everything Half Tab does

No adverts, no tracking, no subscription. Just the arithmetic, done properly.

Groups that live on your phone

A new group is local. It has no link, no code, and nothing about it is sent anywhere — you can use Half Tab for months without an account or a connection. When you want other people in a group, you put that one group online and share it. The rest stay where they are.

Four ways to split

Equally for the usual case. Exact amounts when everyone had something different. Shares when two people are sharing a room. Percentages when that is how the group thinks. Rounding is distributed so the split always adds back up to the total, to the last paisa.

Who paid and who owes are separate questions

One person usually pays for everyone. Half Tab records the payer and the people the cost belongs to independently, so paying for the others without taking a share is a normal thing to enter rather than a workaround.

Sponsored expenses

Somebody covering a fixed part of a bill — the first 3,000 of the jump, the wine — takes their amount off the top, and only the remainder is divided.

Payments, three ways

One person pays records a settle-up between two people. Everyone chips in is a kitty: the same amount from each into one person's pot, which the group then spends from. Outside sponsor is money from beyond the group — an employer covering a work trip, a parent helping out. Nobody repays it, and it simply lowers what the members have to cover between them.

Settle up in the fewest transfers

Rather than everyone paying everyone, Half Tab matches the largest debt to the largest credit until nothing is left, and shows you the short list of transfers that clears the group.

Check before you close

Closing a group shows what each person paid, what their share was, and where they ended up. Anyone still short is marked, and closing over an open balance asks twice.

Share a link, a code, or a PDF

An online group has an invite link and a QR code; you approve who joins. The group's summary exports as a PDF that renders correctly in every language the app supports, including Devanagari, Bengali, Tamil and Arabic.

Your data is yours

Export everything to a CSV file at any time, and import it back — on the same phone or a new one. Twenty-one languages, currency picked from your region, and a single tap to erase everything stored locally.
